Yangon (ANTARA News/Xinhua-OANA) - Myanmar Union Minister of Finance and Revenue U Hla Tun has called for the role of customs departments in realizing ASEAN Community, stressing the need for encouraging commodity flow integration, earning revenue for the state and handling border trade in line with policy and law, an official media reported Wednesday.

U Hla Tun made the call at a senior customs officials meeting of the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) in Nay Pyi Taw Tuesday, said the New Light of Myanmar.

He noted that Myanmar has formed National Window System Leading Committee which will join ASEAN window system via ICT tools as it is one of pivotal pledges of ASEAN nations.

He underscored the implementation of ASEAN window system, amendment of ASEAN customs agreement, ASEAN passing system base contract and its technical appendix, ASEAN-China MoU and review of customs development strategic plan (2005-2010) as decisive success of the ASEAN customs directors-general.

The three-day 20th ASEAN Customs Directors-General Meeting, which began on Tuesday, will last until Thursday, focusing on customs development strategic plan, swift and smooth commodity flow and ASEAN window system.
