Kudus, Central Java (ANTARA News) - A family has been waiting for news from its member working in Saudi Arabia for a long time but to no avail.

Masinah (30) from Karangrowo, Undaan, Kudus, Central Java, has been working in Saudi Arabia since 1999 but no news has ever come from her since then.

Sukino (41), her uncle, said here on Saturday the family had already made various efforts to know where she was actually including asking about it to PT Afida Afiaduta Jakarta that supplied her to Saudi Arabia.

"The company has directly contacted her employer but it got no satisfactory answer," he said.

He said her employer only said that no one named Masinah was working in his home.

"The supplier company has also suggested me to make an inquiry to the Indonesian embassy in Saudi," he said.

Sukino admitted because of the advice from the supplier the family had been worried if she was still alive or not.

He said when the government returned migrant workers in Saudi Arabia the family also prepared documents needed for it but "until now the family still do not know about her fate or whereabouts."

He said the family hoped the government could help them and if possible send her home.

He said she went to Saudi Arabi with an intention of improving the welfare of her family.

He said Masinah first went to Saudi Arabia at the age of 17 in 1998 to work as a maid. Before the contract was expired she decided to return in 1999.

No less than a year at home she then returned to Saudi Arabia. "The last contact made was when she was still in Jakarta for a training," he said.

After and while she was in Saudi Arabia she could not be contacted.

He said the family grew even more worried after hearing recent reports about the fate of a migrant worker in Saudi Arabia. (*)
