Jakarta (ANTARA News) - The stock of tamiflu, a drug for the treatment of flu infections including bird flu, is still sufficient until the end of 2012, Health Minister Endang Rahayu Sedyaningsih said here on Tuesday.

Tamiflu stock will remain sufficient until the end of 2012 because bird case was rare in 2011," the health minister said a health coordination meeting at her office.

But she warned the people against making a close contact with poultry because there was still endemic in poultry.

"It is because if there is an extraordinary bird flu case on poultry it will possibly be contracted to human," she said, referring Puguh Dewi who allegedly died of bird flu in North Jakarta on January 7, 2012.

Endang said laboratory test to determine if Puguh Dewi died of bird flu was still underway.

According to here, the Ministry of Health continued to make coordination with the Ministry of Agriculture to anticipate any bird flu extraordinary case on poultry.

But for domestic poultry, the minister called on the owners to make vaccination in order to avoid the attack of bird flu virus.(O001/A/H-NG)
