Jakarta (ANTARA News) - Jakarta police have arrested two youths believed to be the provocateurs behind a mob attack that led to the death of seaman Arifin Siri recently.

Michael Tri Frenando (20) and Andrian Yudi Islami (22) were arrested on Saturday night, Jakarta Metropolitan Police spokesman Senior Commissioner Rikwanto said here on Sunday.

He said Machael was believed to have played a role in causing the attack on seaman Arifin while Andrian was believed to have hit the victim with a bamboo stick.

With them the police have so far arrested five people in connection with the incident. The other three that have been arrested are Joshua (21), Kohar (22) and Zaenudin (17).

They are facing charges against Article 170 of the Criminal Act on jointly conducting an attack carrying a sentence of more than five years.

Seaman Arifin died after being beaten up by motorbikers in Pademangan, North Jakarta, March 31.
