Yogyakarta (ANTARA News) - A lot of people in Indonesia have yet to utilize the capital market to invest their money as they still prefer to keep their funds in banks , director of Indonesia Stock Exchange development Frederica Widyasari said.

"They still think that saving the funds in banks is safer," she said on the sidelines of the dedication of Indonesia Stock Exchange (BEI) Corner at the Magisterial Management Department of the Gajahmada University here on Thursday.

She said the capital market actually offers bigger profit than bank interests and the capital market also provides investment and financing facilities.

It also helps spread company ownership, promote public transparency and create more jobs, she said. She said investors could own a company and gain profit through it.

She said she had difficulties alluring the people to play in the capital market.

"I hope people would not be afraid of being deceived by the companies because they are also monitored such as by the Financial Institution and Capital Market Supervisory Agency (Bapepam-LK)," she said. (*)
