Bogor (ANTARA News) - The government has prepared a program to speed up the achievement of economic development targets up to 2025.

The economic development acceleration program would be formulated in documents which would be implementable with measurable targets, President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono said in his opening speech of a working meeting on government programs at Bogor Palace, Monday.

"Despite we have implemented economic development based on the mid-term development plan (RPJM) for the 2010-2014 period, the central government and regional governments working plans (RKP and RKPD), and the state budget and regional budgets (APBN and APBD), there is still a need and urgency for us to speed up and expand the economic development up to the next 5 or 10 years outside the existing scenario," the president said.

A master plan was needed to ensure that the acceleration and expansion would run effectively, he said.

"This will not be formulated by the central government, or would be top down in nature. The era has changed, there is no longer centralistic, but it`s decentralistic, and it will prioritize regional economic developments," he said.

The master, which would be prepared by the central government together with other stakeholders, should be concrete, simple, workable, and having clear objectives, he added.

The master plan is expected to have clear time frames and job descriptions.

"It`s should be clear who will invest where, how much, and for what projects. It should also include how many jobs could be created and how many people will be employed," he stated.

The plan should also include accountability and transparency of every project, he added.

"The people must control what the government and the state institutions are doing. It should be made sure that the public know. There should be accountability," the president said.

The two-day working meeting is being attended by all cabinet ministers, leaders of the state institutions and state-owned companies as well as provincial governors.(*)
