Jakarta (ANTARA News) - Garuda planes have landed normally in several airports in Japan following a strong earthquake and subsequent tsunami on Friday.

"The Garuda planes from Denpasar with flight number GA 880 and GA884 from Jakarta to Tokyo landed normally at Narita airport this morning," the airline company`s head of communication Pujobroto said here on Saturday.

The Garuda planes to Osaka and Nagoya also landed normally, he said.

The GA 880 plane carrying 196 passengers left Ngurah Rai airport in Bali on Friday at 11.48pm and landed at Narita at 8.06am on Saturday.

The GA 884 plane from Jakarta to Tokyo with 152 passengers on board left at 11.50pm and landed at 8.16am.

The plane from Denpasar to Osaka (GA 882) left at 12.55 pm on Saturday and arrived at 7.42am local time while the plane from Denpasar to Nagoya (GA 888) left at 1.15am on Saturday and arrived at 7.37am local time.

Garuda serves flights to Tokyo everyday from Jakarta and from Denpasar to Osaka and from Denpasar to Nagoya three times a week.

Garuda flights to Japan went on normally after tsunami devastated the country`s eastern and northeastern coasts.

The Narita airport was closed soone after the earthquake and tsunami but was reopened at around 5pm local time.(*)
