Palu, C Sulawesi (ANTARA News) - Some 100 residents of Salua village, Sigi district, Central Sulawesi province, are still in refuge shelters on Tuesday after a flash flood destroyed their houses two days ago.

"They are taking refuge at their neighbors` houses that are not flooded," Salua village head Yance Pogeleng said on Tuesday.

Most of the evacuees were women and children, while male flood victims were busy repairing and cleaning their flooded houses, he said.

At least 40 houses were submerged by one-meter deep flood water and 14 of them were seriously damaged.

No injuries nor fatalities were reported in the flood caused by the overflowing of a local river following six hours of rains.

By Tuesday the flood water began to recede.
