Jakarta (ANTARA News) - Coordinating Minister for Economic Affairs Hatta Rajasa has said the connectivity among infrastructure development-based regions is the key to step up economic growth.

"Rapid economic growth must be supported by infrastructure, and the key is connectivity. Inadequate infrastructure could cause heated economy and the demand response will be late," Minister Hatta said in his remarks in the Indonesia International Infrastructure Conference and Exhibition (IICE) 2011, here, Tuesday.

To accelerate the infrastructure development, the government will continue to omit bureaucratic development by revising regulations and speeding up the passage of the law on land provision.

"We will revise (some) laws and regulations to support the infrastructure development. We realize there are many obstacles. We will improve the agrarian system, decrease the land price risks, land freezing, and it is expected to be completed this year for the sake of justice concerning land," he said.

The participation of the domestic and foreign private sectors are very much needed due to the limitation of the government in infrastructure project financing as part of the Indonesian economic expansion and acceleration plan.

"Therefore, we allocate a budget of Rp500 trillion within four years ahead. And this is small compared to the total that we need," he said.

The minister hoped that the conference and exhibition could encourage the interest of investors, and produce exchanged information among the government, stakeholders, and the participants on an ideal scheme of infrastructure financing in the form of the Public Private partnership (PPP).

Vice President Boediono inaugurated Indonesia the International Infrastructure Conference and Exhibition (IICE) 2011.

The IICE is the initiative of KADIN (the Indonesian Chamber of Commerce and Industry) and supported by the Economic Affairs Coordinating Ministry, the National Development Planning Ministry/The National Development Planning Board, and the Investment Coordinating Board (BKPM).

More than 800 delegations, 87 speakers and 13 moderators including ministers, governors and CEOs as well as infrastructure industry chairmen are to participate in the IICE 2011.
