Seeing the sophistication of the police`s capability and equipment I believe they would be uncovered
Jakarta (ANTARA News) - The general chairman of Indonesia`s largest Islamic organization Nahdlatul Ulama (NU) KH Said Aqil Siroj said he would not want to speculate when asked about the motive behind the current bomb threats.

"Let us just see that bomb terror has indeed happened, which we must deal with together," he said after opening a national meeting of the Nahdlatul Ulama Agricultural Development Institute (LPPNU) here on Friday.

"Whether or not it is a distraction it is not our affairs," he said.

He said NU hoped the perpetrators, their network or the mastermind behind the bomb terror so far could be uncovered so that people would not become restless.

"Seeing the sophistication of the police`s capability and equipment I believe they would be uncovered," he said.

He said it was already proven the police finally could catch the perpetrators of terror through bomb book parcels in Jakarta some time ago.

He said the police had actually known the terrorist cells but it seemed they had ignored them and would not conduct prevention. "I do not know what will happen now after the police themselves that have become victims," he said.

Earlier in his speech at the event Said Aqil re-emphasized the importance of monitoring a number of organizations or foundations receiving funds from the Middle East in various parts in Indonesia because "these groups are usually hardliners."

On the other part Said Aqil said that as a moderate organization NU`s task is now heavier because of the increasing number of hardline groups.

"NU carries a burden of creating a moderate society. This is a heavy task and even heavier than setting up extreme groups," he said.(*)
