Dumai, Riau (ANTARA News) - State power company PT PLN in Dumai, Riau, was set to build two steam power plants (PLTUs) with a capacity of 2x165 megawatts (MW).

"The project has now reached the preliminary stage of seeking the 40 hectares of building sites," head of PLN Dumai office Rasyid Naja said here Thursday.

He said the procurement of land for the PLTUs also needs the prevailing standardization that the site must not be less than 800 meters from the sea which would provide the energy sources.

Some time ago, Rasyid said, a team of Northern Sumatra PLN has also arrived in Dumai and met Mayor H Khairul Anwa to discuss the project.

"For the time being there are two plots of land assigned by the Mayor, namely the land of PT Kawasan Industri Dumai (KID), Medang Kampai and Kawasan Industri Lubuk Gaung, Sungai Sembilan sub-district," he said.

These two areas shared our wish for having routes toward the sea, he said.
