Jakarta (ANTARA News) - Two people were feared dead when a fire ravaged a housing complex at Kwitang area in Central Jakarta early Monday.

The source of the fire came from a house built during the Dutch colonial ruler on Jl Kramat V/24, Central Jakarta, and later spread to nearby buildings, spokesman for the Central Jakarta Fire Department Decky said

The fatalities were believed to be the owner of the house identified as M. Pieter (80) and his son (48), he said.

"It is believed they had no chance to escape as they were sleeping when the fire ravaged the house," he said.

At least 26 fire trucks were sent to the scene, he said. The cause of the fire is still unknown.(*)
