Andi Mallarangeng shared Mangindaan`s statement saying Yudhoyono in the meeting last night only gave directives to make the party remain solid and strong.
Jakarta (ANTARA News) - President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono (SBY) as the chief patron of the ruling Democrat Party has called on party cadres to remain solid in view of recent problems faced by the party.

"That is what he wants to say. He wants us to be fine and remain solid," EE Mangindaan, one of the members of the party`s advisory, who is also minister for administrative reform said here on Thursday about the meeting between a number of party cadres with Yudhyono at the latter`s private residence in Cikeas, Bogor, West Java, on Wednesday.

Andi Mallarangeng shared Mangindaan`s statement saying Yudhoyono in the meeting last night only gave directives to make the party remain solid and strong.

He said in his office Yudhoyono also called on all cadres to take a lesson from various cases that has been faced by the party so that they could continue to progress.

A member of the party`s advisory board, Jero Wacik, meanwhile said SBY had also asked cadres to be careful when making statements so that they would not make the situation worse.

"The chief patron gathered cadres to tell them to speak only proper things and not to be provoked in issues that would only make us stirred," he said.

He said by speaking only on necessary things cadres could also be more focused on efforts to make the nation progress.

Jero Wacik said the decision of the party`s ethics council to fire Muhammad Nazaruddin from his post as a party`s treasurer was correct.

He said the party had already taken into consideration various factors before arriving at the decision. Therefore he said it was normal if some quarters then viewed that the Democrat Party had been too slow in deciding about Nazaruddin`s case.

Jero Wacik, who is a minister of tourism, also confirmed that SBY had also sought confirmation from five cadres linked to Nazaruddin`s case.

"He checked the information. He checked one by one," he said.

Jerok Wacik, Mangindaan or Andi Mallarangeng declined to tell the names of the five cadres.(*)
