Sana`a (ANTARA News/Xinhua-OANA) - Five huge explosions were heard late on Friday in the ceasefire area in downtown Sanaa, which were followed by heavy gunshots, a Xinhua correspondent at the scene said.

The five huge blasts and shootings came just few hours after the opposition tribal leader Sadiq al-Ahmar, who led the five-day pitched street battles against government forces in Sanaa, said that a tribe-mediated ceasefire was reached on Friday.

Casualties of the explosions are still unknown as tension soared between the government forces and the fighters of al-Ahmar, who stood by with anti-government protesters to seek to overthrow President Ali Abdullah Saleh.

At least 127 people were killed during the five-day gun battles.

Blackout hit almost all the capital just minutes after the explosions, as more huge bombings along with heavy shooting were heard clearly in Hassaba near al-Ahmar`s house. (*)
