Jakarta (ANTARA News) - Police have arrested the brother-in-law of Hariyanto, a suspect in the recent shooting of three Poso police officers, for keeping ammunition belonging to the latter, a spokesman said.

"We arrested AR, the brother in law of Hariyanto, one of the suspects in the shooting incident in Palu, last night in South Poso," the head of the National Police`s public information service , Senior Commissioner Boy Rafli Amar, said here on Tuesday.

He said AR`s arrest was done following a search at AR`s home. "Following the questioning of Hariyanto family members police came to know about some ammunition belonging to Haryanto in AR`s house," he said.

Police discovered 20 rounds of 38 caliber ammunition for caliber 38 US Carbine rifles during a search at AR`s house, he said.

"The ammunition was taken by AR to his home from Hariyanto`s on the latter`s order," he said.

The ammunition was believed to be of the same type as that used by Hariyanto in shooting three police officers in Palu.

"AR was named a suspect because he had information about the ammunition but did not tell the authorities," he said.

The police were now still searching for three other suspects in the case. Police had previously arrested two persons, namely Haryanto and Furqon.

Due to the attack at Bank Central Asia on Jalan Emy Saelan at 11.30 local time two police officers had died namely second brigadier Prawira and second brigadier Gustiar Yudhistira while second brigadier Deddy Edwar was injured.

The police were killed while on duty securing vital objects. The attackers used rifles and had taken one of the officers` guns before making their escape on a motorcycle.
