Jakarta (ANTARA News) - President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono delivered a speech to commemorate the birth of Indonesia`s state ideology of Pancasila at the parliament building here Wednesday.

Vice President Boediono, several ministers and former presidents were present in the event which started at 10 am local time.

Chairman of the People`s Consultative Assembly (MPR) Taufik Kiemas was the first to deliver a speech, followed by third president BJ Habibie, and fifth president Megawati Soekarnoputri. President Yudhoyono, Indonesia`s sixth president, had the last turn to deliver a speech.

First president Soekarno delivered a speech on June 1, 1945 introducing Pancasila as Indonesia`s state ideology.

Pancasila comprises five principles , namely belief in God Almighty, humanity that is just and civilized, the unity of Indonesia, democracy guided by the wisdom of representative deliberation, and social justice for all Indonesians.

Last May 24, President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono and other state institution chiefs agreed to work in synergy to promote the more consistent and intensive application of the values ​of the state ideology of Pancasila in daily practice.

The president and state institution chiefs made their commitment in a joint statement issued after their meeting for about three hours at the Constitutional Court building.

In addition to the president, the meeting was also attended by Vice President Boediono, the head of the People`s Consultative Assembly (MPR) Taufik Kiemas, House of Representatives chairman Marzuki Ali, Regional Representatives Council (DPD) Irman Gusman, Supreme Court chairman Harifin Tumpa, State Audit Agency (BPK) chairman Hadi Poernomo, the Attorney General`s Office, Judicial Commission (KY)Eman Suparman and the Constitutional Court (MK) chairman Prof Mahfud MD.(*)
