Palu, Central Sulawesi (ANTARA News) - A bomb defusing team from the Central Sulawesi Police Command has defused 12 bombs, five of them ready to be detonated and seven others still in a state of being assembled.

The bombs were found by a villager named Syukri Lamadi in Kapompa, Madale, North Poso Kota, while he was collecting grass for his livestock.

"I was wondering what was in that plastic bag. After I opened it, Oh My God, I found bombs. I saw pipes, black powder and nails," he said.

After finding the bombs he immediately informed a community police member who then contacted the local police office.

The bombs were discovered at around 2pm. A bomb defusing team from the Central Sulawesi Police Command arrived at 4.40pm local time.

The location where the bombs were found is a tourist center called Panta Kapal around 10 kilometers north of Poso city.

Syukri said the bombs were discovered hanging in a tree around 50 centimeters above the ground. People also found ex-food packages on the location.

The chief of the Sub-Detachment of Bomb Defusing Unit of the Central Sulawesi Police Command, second inspector Ruly Robinson Poli`i said if the bombs exploded the impact could reach a diameter of 30 meter. The bombs are deadly because they contain nails.

Rully said five of the bombs were ready to use while the other seven merely needed detonators for use.

He said the bombs could be exploded by burning them or using a battery. He said bombs of the same kind were found two months ago in Mapane, Poso Kota.

He believed the bombs were assembled on Wednesday morning because if they were assembled one or two days ago the nails must have been rusty.
