Jakarta (ANTARA News) - Police are searching for five people believed to be involved in the shooting of a police officer in Bekasi on the eastern outskirts of Jakarta early on Wednesday.

"Only one that opened fire but five people were believed to be in the car," National Police head of public relations division Inspector General Anton Bachrul Alam said here on Wednesday.

The actor shot the Bekasi city resort police officer using a rifle and drove an Inova car. "The identity of the person is still being investigated while the bullet and others are being handled by the police forensic laboratory," he said.

Police anti-terror unit Densus 88 and a special unit from the Jakarta Metropolitan Police have been deployed to find the one that had killed second adjunct inspector Sugiyantoro.

"We will uncover the case as soon as possible involving a special unit of the Jakarta Metropolitan Police and Densus 88," the chief of the Bekasi city police resort, Senior Commissioner Imam Sugianto said.

He said the teams moved immediately soon after the incident happened at around 3am on Jalan Raya Mes Angkatan Laut, Jatiranggon, Pondok Gede.

"Based on the results of autopsy by the Cipto Mangunkusumo hospital, the bullet that came out of the gun of the murderer hit the left part of the victim`s nose bone and went up penetrating the right part of the brain and the back part of the skeleton. The bullet has not yet been found including the projectile on the scene," he said.

The Jakarta Metropolitan Police head of public relations division, Senior Commissioner Baharudin Djaffar, dismissed possible connection of the incident with terrorism.
