Jakarta (ANTARANews) - Nineteen investors from Abu Dhabi, the United Arab Emirates, will participate in the upcoming World Economic Forum on East Asia (WEFEA) in Jakarta, June 12-13, 2011.

It would be the first time for them to participation in the WEFEA, Gita Wirjawan, head of the National Investment Coordinating Board, said at the Parliament Building here Wednesday after attending a working meeting with the House of Representatives (DPR)`s Commission VI.

The Abu Dhabi investors will also explore investment opportunities in Indonesia, especially in the sectors of electricity, smelter, infrastructure and tourism.

"Yesterday, we received a CEO of the Abu Dhabi National Bank. If the investors would invest here, the bank would help the funding," he said.

Tourism has gotten attention from the Arab investors, he said.

In 2009, Emaar Properties, an investor from Dubai, had intended to invest in the tourism sector in Lombok, West Nusa Tenggara (NTB) Province.

However, the project worth 600 million US dollars had been canceled due to the financial crisis that had shaken Dubai.

"Emaar had failed. Now (we will have investors from) Abu Dhabi. Abu Dhabi is an emirate having huge funds," Gita said.

Some 620 policy makers representing government, industry, academia and companies will participate in the World Economic Forum on East Asia.

The WEFEA 2011`s theme is "Responding to the New Globalism" . Representatives of non-profit organizations will also take part in the WEFEA.

The Forum will discuss global issues such as commodity prices, energy and food resilience, the role of businesses in supporting the national economy, and agriculture sector development.

President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono is scheduled to officially open the WEF on East Asia 2011 on June 12.

The World Economic Forum on East Asia will coincide with the WEF`s 20th anniversary .
