Jakarta (ANTARA News) - The Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) on Tuesday questioned former social service minister Bachtiar Chamsyah as a witness in an alleged graft case involving former director general of social assistance for the poor Amrun Daulay.

KPK spokesman Johan Budi said the anti-graft body also on Tuesday questioned Daulay accused of involvement in the graft-tainted procurement of cattle, sewing machines and sarongs at the ministry between 2004 and 2008.

The KPK also planned to grill Rocky Christian and PT Ladang Sutra Indah president director Musfar Azis as witnesses in the case, Johan said.

Asked whether the commission would detain the suspect following the questioning, Johan said: "I don`t know yet."

Amrun Dauly who is a cadre of the Democrat Party was named a suspect in the alleged graft case on April 8, 2011.

Earlier, in court proceedings at the anti-corruption court, public prosecutors accused Daulay and Chamsyah of enriching themselves in connection with the procurement of cattle, sewing machines and sarongs.

Because of the misdeeds the state suffered Rp33.7 billion in losses, the prosecutors said.

The anti-corruption court had earlier sentenced Chamsyah to one year and eight months in jail.(*)
