Banda Aceh (ANTARA News) - The value of Aceh`s coconut exports in the first quarter of 2011 increased 20 percent to 20,050 US dollars from 15,922 US dollars in the same period a year earlier, an official said.

Head of the local trade office Nurdin said here on Friday that the Aceh`s coconut exports were boosted by increasing demand for the commodity from the destination country.

He said the volumes of the Aceh province`s coconut exports also increased from 226 tons in the October - December 2010 period to 365 tons in the January - March 2011.

Nurdin said that the coconut exports were shipped to Thailand.

Aceh also exported other commodities in the first quarter of 2011, 3,136 tons of arabica coffee worth 17 million dollars, 10 tons cinnamon, worth 16,860 dollars, 127 iron ores valued at 5 million dollars and 3,500 tons of ammonia accounting for 1.5 million dollars.(*)
