Jakarta (ANTARA News) - The Jakarta Regional Government (DKI)`s unspent budget for 2010 reached 17.83 percent, or Rp4.67 trillion of the Rp26.23 trillion set for that year, a city councilor said.

"The absorbed budget was only Rp82.17 trillion," chairman of the Jakarta Regional Representatives Assembly (DPRD) Ferrial Sofyan said here on Wednesday.

He made the remarks after attending a plenary session held with regard to the Jakarta 484th anniversary at the DPRD building.

The DPRD chairman said that he obtained the figure from the reports of DPRD factions during their over views they delivered during the plenary.

Ferrial said the unspent budget which was worth Rp4.67 trillion was a big amount. If all the budget was absorbed, the regional government must have been able to perform better in improving the welfare of the people.

"Especially in improving the services for the people in the fields of health, education and houses," he said.(*)
