Jakarta (ANTARA News) - President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono received criticisms from a number of House of Representatives (DPR) members during a consultation meeting with DPR here on Thursday.

In response President Yudhoyono said he appreciated them saying they were inputs for the government to continue to improve its performance.

"Personally I thanked them who have been critical towards what the government has done, which is important for use by the government to make better policies later," he said at a press conference after the meting with the DPR leadership.

President Yudhoyono said criticism was common in a democratic country. "It is not a problem for political conflicts to happen so long as they would not become inappropriate," he said.

He hoped this condition could be maintained so that all development programs could be carried out well with proper supervision of the DPR.

"We have agreed to maintain the good relations with the DPR remain critical but when needed we have to unite for the sake of the people," he said.

The meeting was attended by all elements in the DPR leadership including commission and faction chairs.

The government officials attending the meeting included vice president Boediono, three chief ministers and other ministers concerned.

Besides discussion national legislation programs the meeting also discussed regional divisions and improvement of employment system for migrant workers.
