Madiun, E Java (ANTARA News) - The family of Istirokah, an Indonesian migrant worker from Madiun, East Java, known to be working in Saudi Arabia on Saturday told reporters they had not heard from her for the past nine years and considered here missing. .

Istirokah`s family and relatives had been living in constant sadness and confusion because they had lost contact with her for more than nine years.

Istirokah`s sister, Suyati, said here on Saturday the former was sent by PT Safika Jaya Utama in Jakarta to Saudi Arabia as a migrant worker 12 years ago.

Suyati said Istirokah was the youngest daughter of Romiran and his wife Siti Kotimah.

"Istirokah has been working in Saudi Arabia for more than 12 years but we have lost contact with her since nine years ago," Suyati said.

She said that in the last contact nine years ago, Istirokah said she was being maltreated by her employer.

"When we last contacted Istirokah nine years ago, she said that her employer never permitted her to leave the house and neither gave her salary as agreed on before," Suyati said.

She added that the family and relatives had several times tried to contact her and finally found out that her employer`s address had changed.

Adding to their despair, when the family tried to contact the Migrant Workers Placement Companiy (PJTKI) which had sent Istirokah to Saudi Arabia to report the case, they learned the company had gone out of business and no longer existed.(*)
