Cairo (ANTARA News/Xinhua-OANA) - Fierce clashes occurred late Tuesday night between Egyptian security forces and protestors in the Tahrir Square in central Cairo, local website Egypt News reported.

The clashes began when the security forces tried to disperse hundreds of people who were protesting in front of the Interior Ministry building in the Tahrir Square, the website said.

Dozens of protestors were wounded by the tear gas fired by the police, it said.

Ambulances were seen rushing to the scene for the injured, local TV channel Al Hayat said. (*)
