Jakarta (ANTARA News) - The Indonesian and US Navies held passing exercises in the Java Sea on Thursday.

The joint exercises involved USN Ship 73 (USS George Washington), USN Ship 54 (Frigate), USN Ship 63 (Frigate), HMAS Darwin (04), and Indonesian warships KRI Diponegoro-365 and KRI Slamet Riyadi-352.

Officials of the two navies aboard USS George Washington witnessed the exercises.

Vice Naval Chief of Staff Vice Admiral Marsetio inspected the joint exercises which covered flash ex-flaghoist, tactical maneuver and exchange of officers.

During the exercises USS George Washington demonstrated explosive ordinance disposal (EOD).

The aircraft carrier USS George Washington was in the Java Sea as part of TF 70 Battle Ships which sailed the Indonesian waters from the South China Sea en route to Australia to conduct joint exercises.(*)
