Palu, Central Sulawesi (ANTARA News- Tourism and Culture Minister Jero Wacik is expected to officially open Togean Marine Festival (FBT) on Wakai Island, Togean islands, Tojo Unauna District, Central Sulawesi Province, July 23-27, 2011.

"I and Tojo Unauna District Head Damsyik Lajalani met the minister recently, and he said he would come to Togean to open the festival," Head Central Sulawesi Tourism and Culture Office Suaib Djafar said here on Saturday.

Prior to the festival, a cultural week is organized at Ampana, Tojo Unauna District, on July 17-21, 2011.

The Togean Festival has become a routine event in the national tourism tourism agenda in July of each year and followed by Lake Poso Festival in August each year.

The Togean Marine Fein stival`s activities include a decorated boat competition, a rowing race, a diving competition, a traditional fashion contest, local handicraft and culinary exhibitions, dance performances, a beach volley ball tournament, a war of tug aboard traditional boats, and a tourism beauty contest of Togean Islands.

Syarif Lasawedi, a spokesman of the Tojo Unauna district administration said Ampana was ready to host the Togean Festival and the Central Sulawesi Cultural Week.

Central Sulawesi Governor Longki Djanggola is scheduled to officially kick off the cultural week on Sunday (July 17).

He hoped that the cultural week would attract tens of domestic and international tourists, especially those from European countries.
