Minister Djoko said he did not know the whereabouts of Nazaruddin, including a possibility that he might be in Latin America.
Jakarta (ANTARA News) - M Nazaruddin is still wanted and being hunted down by the authorities, according to Coordinating Minister for Political, Legal and Security Affairs Djoko Suyanto.

"Yes, he is still wanted, KPK (Corruption Eradication Commission) and the Police are still looking for him," the minister said in a discussion on "The Role of Mass Media in Managing National Problems" here on Tuesday.

Minister Djoko said he did not know the whereabouts of Nazaruddin, including a possibility that he might be in Latin America.

"I must have strong data before confirming his whereabouts," he said.

The minister said he did not know about a plan to send a joint team between the Police and Immigration office to bring home Nazaruddin.

Achmad Mubarok, a member of the Democrat Party`s Advisory Council, said Nazaruddin was traced in Argentine. He said that he had received the information from the Police.

Nazaruddin, a legislator and former treasurer of Democrat Party, was interviewed by Iwan Piliang via Skype on Metro TV on Friday (July 22).

Named as a corruption suspect, he fled to Singapore one day before he was banned from traveling overseas and until now he has remained on the run.

Earlier, Law and Human Rights Minister Patrialis Akbar said that a joint team of police, immigration and his ministry was sent overseas to find Nazaruddin.

But the minister refused to disclose to which countries the team had left on Tuesday night.(*)
