Idrus said the nomination of Aburizal would be done in the right time and after various surveys were done.
Kendari, S.E. Sulawesi (ANTARA News) - A Golkar Party official said Aburizal Bakrie`s nomination as the party`s candidate for the presidential election in 2014 was only a matter of time.

"The decision of the party`s executive board to only nominate one candidate for the president from 2014 to 2019 will be issued at the end of December 2011," the party`s secretary general, Idrus Marham, said in Kendari, Southeast Sulawesi.

Idrus was in Kendari to accompany Aburizal Bakrie, the party`s general chairman, in a meeting with Golkar cadres from across the province.

The meeting was held also for introducing Golkar cadres that would run for the province`s governor namely Ridwan BAE (the chief of the Southeast Sulawesi Golkar chapter) and La Ode Ida (the deputy chairman of the National Regional Representative Council.

Other candidates are Ali Mazi (the chief of the Southeast Sulawesi chapter of the Nasional Demokrat (Nasdem) organization, Masyur Masie Abunawas (former mayor of Kendari) and Surunuddin Dangga (former chairman of the South Konawe regional legislative assembly).

Idrus said the nomination of Aburizal would be done in the right time and after various surveys were done.

He said whoever is to be nominated by Golkar Party as candidate for the 2014 presidential election he/she is certainly the best person.

Idrus said the key to winning the number one position in the country in 2014 was how cadres and sympathizers could win as many votes as possible.

"So the determinant is the people`s votes not those of party executives. In view of that all party executives must intensively conduct consolidation and socialization in their respective regions as of now," he said.

The secretary general also said he was optimistic the party`s general chairman would be nominated as the party`s candidate for the next president.

He said the party would continue conducting socialization and monitoring political dynamics in the country.

He said Aburizal had to work hard in view of several cases such as Lapindo mud flow and tax issue in one of his companies that could undermine him.

Golkar cadres in Southeast Sulawesi during the meeting agreed to nominate Aburizal as candidate for the election in 2014.

"We, Golkar board members and cadres, give full support to general chairman Aburizal Bakrie to run for president in 2014," the chief of the province`s Golkar Party chapter, Ridwan BAE, said before supporters in the party`s meeting in Kendari.(*)
