Jakarta (ANTARA News) - The Ministry of Manpower and Transmigration cooperating with the Central Bank (BI) are to provide financial training to migrant workers.

The commitment is realized in a Memorandum of Understanding signed here on Monday by Minister Muhaimin Iskandar and Central Bank`s Governor Darmin Nasution.

"Financial training is needed to improve migrant workers` ability in managing their finances using the right banking products," Muhaimin said.

The minister added that good education about finance would allow migrant workers to use their wages wisely. "Migrant workers and their families must also understand the way to manage savings at banks and apply for credits," said the minister.

Meanwhile, Governor of Central Bank Darmin Nasution said finance and banking training to migrant workers was beneficial not only to the themselves but their family as well, and to the country`s foreign exchange reserves. (T.A051/H-NG/O001)
