Jakarta (ANTARA News) - The government plans to allocate Rp41.9 trillion for food resilience in 2012, President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono said here on Tuesday.

He said in his state address before the parliament the budget would be among others for implementing the 10 million ton rice surplus program in the next five to 10 years.

"Through the program we wish to encourage all community elements to increase their capacity, productivity, income and welfare," he said when presenting the government`s statement on the draft budget for 2012 and its financial notes.

In 2012 the government also plans to allocate a budget for direct fertilizer assistance totaling Rp675 billion which is equal for 192.800 tons.

It will also provide prime seed assistance worth Rp1.8 trillion which is equal for 185,000 tons of seeds, he said.

Regarding the budget for agriculture the President said in 2012 the government would allocate Rp17.8 trillion.

"The budget is mainly for increasing agricultural production and productivity and quality in its wide term," he said.

With regard to the poor families he said the government would continue its rice for the poor program.

For it he said the government would allocate Rp15.6 trillion for 17.5 million targeted households.

President Yudhoyono also said that the government would also provide working capital for 3,340 fishermen groups, development of fish catching business, the empowerment of small fishermen, the development of fisheries areas for 3,700 groups of fishermen and the development of fisheries ports in 816 ports.
