Cimahi, W. Java (ANTARA News ) - As many as 50 participants of the 66th anniversary of Indonesian independence commemoration in West Java city of Cimahi were fainted due to dehydration, the city health service official said.

"Most of the fainted participants are school students, apart from the elderly public protection officials," a city health service official, dr Rian Dewi Auriani told the press here on Wednesday.

Dr Rian said the hot weather caused by the sweltering sunshine made dozens of participants who were fasting not strong enough to attend the ceremony.

At the moment, an elderly, as part of the ceremony participants who suffered from convulsions illness due to high sugar content, was rushed to hospital.

In the meantime, one of the participants Wisnu Pratama, the student of vocational schools (SMK) "Pembangunan" Cimahi said he was fainted after recovering from an illness, thus he experienced dizziness as a result of long standing.

On the occasion, Cimahi mayor Itoc Tochija who acted as the ceremony inspector called on all participants of the ceremony to take part in the regional development.(*)
