Jakarta (ANTARA News) - Vice President Boediono inspected Senen railway station on Wednesday to obtain first hand information on state railway company PT KAI preparations to serve Lebaran holiday travelers this year.

In the company of Coordinating Minister for People`s Welfare Agung Laksono and Transportation Minister Freddy Number, the vice president arrived at the station at 1 on Wednesday afternoon.

The vice president in his 30-minute visit took a few minutes of his time to have a dialog with a number of home-bound travelers who would return to their home towns by train from Senen railway station.

Lamuji, a prospective train passenger who wanted to return to his hometown in Bojonegoro, East Java, said the management for the travelers at Senen station this year was more neat and comfortable than that in the past years.

The vice president also got into Blitar-bound Matarmaja train coach to have a look besides inspecting a number of health service posts at the station.

After the inspection, Boediono said said the preparation and management of train service for home-bound travelers this year was much better than that of last year.

"As we have seen that the management and service at Senen railway station is much better than that of last year," the vice president said.

Meanwhile, Senen station spokesman Djoko Sukotjo said that his party this year used boarding pass for only the people who wanted to travel by train.

From Senen station the vice president and his entourage took a helicopter to inspect Merak ferry port in Banten and to monitor the flow of traffic from the air.
