Jakarta (ANTARA News) - World Bank Managing Director Sri Mulyani Indrawati has praised the success of the Timor Leste government under Prime Minister (PM) Kay Rala Xanana Gusmao in implementing administrative and financial reforms.

"I would gladly serve as finance minister under a prime minister like you. Congratulations on all the efforts of your government," Sri Mulyani said at a meeting with Xanana Gusmao in Dili on Thursday.

The meeting between the former Indonesian finance minister and the Timor Leste leader took place at the latter`s office and in a friendly atmosphere, a spokesman of the Timor Leste prime minister, Naikoli Antonio Ramos, told ANTARA in an email.

Sri Mulyani also praised the success of the Timor Leste government in launching its "Estrategic Plan" or development plans for the next 20 years.

Sri Mulyani who is also a former head of Indonesia`s National Development Planning Agency (Bappenas) said the development planning strategy was very important because East Timor had petroleum reserves that could be utilized to help the country make significant developmental progress.

At the meeting with Sri Mulyani, Xanana Gusmao was accompanied by Deputy Prime Minister Jose Luis Guterres and his entire cabinet. On the occasion, Xanana also presented a gift to Sri Mulyani as a token of friendship.
