Bandung, West Java (ANTARA News) - Three holiday travelers were killed in two traffic accidents on the ascending road stretch at Nagreg, West Java, on Saturday.

"The number of victims in accidents at Nagreg has risen to three after one victim died while being taken to hospital," the chief of tha Banung traffic police , Adjunct Commissioner Eka Permatasari, said in Nagreg.

Two of the three victims were Warya and his wife, Lina Marlina, residents of Kebon Sari, Cimahi Tengah, West Java, while the other one, Nono Darsono, was a resident of Kampung Pansajaya, West Bogor, West Java.

Warya and his wife died after a passenger bus hit their motorcycle from behind at Nagreg. It was believed the bus`s brakes failed to function when it hit the motorcycle.

Warya died at the scene and his wife on the way to a nearby hospital.

The driver of Primajasa bus, Iwa, was arrested.

Nono Darsono meanwhile died after a micro-bus brushed against his motorcycle at a point about 400 meters from where the first accident occurred. Nono was thrown into a ditch and died on the spot.

The ascending road at Nagreg is the most dangerous section of the busy southern highway in West Java.

Traffic on the inclining road at Nagreg has been made one way after the government built a ring road nearby.
