Palu, C Sulawesi (ANTARA News) - Chief of the Morowali Police Resort in Central Sulawesi Adj. Snr. Comr. Suhirman was questioned on Sunday in connection with shooting incident in a riot at an oil drilling area in Tiaka Island last Monday.

"It is true the chief of the Marowali police resort is being grilled," spokesman of the Central Sulawesi provincial police Comr. R Bambang Surjadi said on Sunday.

He said Suhirman was questioned behind closed door and thus, no journalist was allowed to cover the event and take a picture of the police resort chief.

Snr. Comr. Haroan Ritonga who is one of the four members of the investigating team from the Indonesian Police Headquarters questioned Suhirman starting 09.00 a.m. on Sunday.

The other members of the team led by Brig. Gen. M Idrus Gassing are Snr. Comr. Hendra Supriatna, Snr. Comr. Gusti Ketut Gunawa and Adj. Snr. Comr. Hendra Kurniawan.

The investigating team arrived in the Central Sulawesi provincial capital of Palu on Saturday night (Aug 27) to check and investigate thoroughly the incident which left two people dead and six others injured.

Speaking to the press during a break on Sunday, Suhirman confirmed that an investigating team from the National Police Headquarters questioned him.

Earlier, Chief of the Central Sulawesi Provincial Police Brig. Gen. Dewa Parsana said the chief of the Morowali police resort and all of his men at the scene of incident would be questioned in connection with the shooting case.(*)
