Jakarta (ANTARA News) - President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono met with businessmen grouped in the Association of Indonesian Employers (APINDO) here on Tuesday to discuss efforts to increase economic growth.

In his introductory speech he called on businessmen to convey ideas for overcoming hurdles hampering economic growth so far.

"You are open to tell problems that need to be overcome. We have an interest to make the economy to grow, create more employment and increase income of workers to reduce poverty in the country," he said at the meeting which was also attended by cabinet ministers and APINDO executive board members.

President Yudhoyono called on the business community to participate in the efforts to create jobs and reduce poverty as well as achieve economic growth of seven to eight percent.

He also expressed hope for a synergy between the government and the business community with regard to developing the country`s economy.

"If there is a good synergy between regional government and business community, between central and regional governments we could certainly produce something real for us all," he said.

President Yudhoyono also called on businessmen in APINDO to participate in the master plan for the acceleration and expansion of Indonesian economic development that has been made by the government.(*)
