Palembang (ANTARA News) - A total of 350 Muslim figures from 51 countries are expected to attend a meeting to be organized by the Indonesian Inter-Parliamentary Cooperation Board here in January 2012.

The gathering will take place from January 24 through 30, 2012, so that the related parties in the country should make the international event a success, said Dr. Aidit Aziz, assistant to the provincial administration for people`s welfare affairs said here on Tuesday.

"The meeting will among other things discuss developments in the Islamic world, including economic affairs," he said.

To ensure the meeting`s success, South Sumatra Governor Alex Noerdin had set up a local organizing committee chaired by the provincial government`s secretary, H. Yusri Effendi.

The world Muslims meeting was to be opened by President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono.
