Jakarta (ANTARA News) - Chief Economic Minister Hatta Rajasa said that investment constraint problems must be solved soon in an effort to increase service to investors.

The coordinating minister for economic affairs made the remarks during a joint press conference with Japanese Minister for Trade, Economic and Industrial Affairs Yukio Edano after attending the second MPA (Metropolitan Priority Area for Investment and Industrial Development) here on Thursday.

"From the report of the co-chairman of the Joint Consultation Team on Japan-Indonesia Investment Promotion, we hae conluded there a number of matters related to investment need to be overcome, such as the discourse on taxes, customs and harmonization of regulations between the central and regional governments," the minister said.

He said that apart from investment obstacles, the Japanese side had also acknowledged their enjoyment of a number of facilities such as tax allowances or holidays.

"Mrs Edano and I are determined to continue increasing relations between the two countries in the trade and investment fields. Of late, there has been a lot of investment from Japan such as in the automotive field or in electricity generation projects," Hatta said.
