Ambon, Maluku (ANTARA News) - The two-day meeting of international youths for world peace and harmony ended here on Saturday with the adoption of the Ambon Declaration.

Youths from different countries read out the five-point declaration at the World Peace Gong Monument here on Saturday night.

Deputy Chairman of the World Assembly of Youth (WAY) Ahmad Doli Kurnia who is also chief of the National Committee for Indonesian Youth (KNPI) in the company of Maluku provincial and Ambon municipal officials and ranking military and police officers read out the declaration in Indonesian language.

In the declaration the world youths said on behalf of humanity and in an effort to create peace, harmony and love on the earth they condemned any form of violence and arbitrariness.

The world youths called for elimination of all forms of discrimination related to ethnicity, religion and race.

They called on the world community to pay mutual respect and uphold peace culture in all aspects of life to prevent and resolve any kind of violence and conflict.

They asked governments and leaders all over the world to seriously prevent and resolve any kind of violence and conflict through justice, education and welfare approaches by observing local wisdom of each nation.

In addition, they also committed themselves to serve as a pioneer and agent to create a world full of peace, harmony and love.

"We ask all world leaders to implement the five-point declaration under the spirit of togetherness to create peace and harmony in the life of the entire world community," the youths said.

The world youths read out the declaration coinciding with the conclusion of Ambon Bay festival in which 13 pigeons were released in gesture of peace.

The chief of the organizing committee of the world youths meeting, Sahruddin Latuconsina who is also chief of the KPNI`s branch in Maluku said copies of the Ambon Declaration would be handed to all participants and members of the World Assembly of Youth for further conveyance to their respective leaders.
