Jakarta (ANTARA News) - Finance Minister Agus Martowardojo on Wednesday commissioned a computerized system to receive complaints from the public or anybody within the finance ministry about indications of disciplinary rule violations or misconduct by finance ministry personnel.

"With the presence of a good mechanism for handling `whistle blowing` it is hoped the integrity of finance ministry employees and officials can be improved," he said in remarks at the system`s launching.

He also hoped the system would also encourage officials, employees and community members to participate in the efforts to prevent and eradicate corruption or abuse of power by finance ministry employees.

"The launching of the WiSe system proves that the ministry of finance keeps improving its service and commitment to creating clean apparatus with integrity," he said.

The system could be accessed through "www.wise.depkeu.go.id" so that ministry employees or community members wherever they are could easily submit their complaints directly, quickly and cheaply.

The minister said employees or community members need not be worried because their identities would be kept secret under the system that has been specially designed for the purpose.

For transparency and accountability he said his office would announce the results of the handling of public complaints in the mass media.

The WiSe system would be implemented by all echelon I units in the ministry and monitored by the Inspectorate General to ensure the integrity of all echelon I units.

"For the application and development of WiSe we hope there will be a synergy between all stakeholders both in and outside the finance ministry," he said.

He hoped the implementation of WiSe would help create clean apparatus and eventually help create clean governance and improve the ministry`s public service.

The complaint reporting system is the first set up in the country`s ministries after the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) implemented it earlier.(*)
