Medan, N. Sumatra (ANTARA News) - Poland is ready to raise its trade cooperation in different commodities with North Sumatra importers including in trash management.

Economic official at the Indonesian embassy in Warsaw M.Aditya Kardin said here on Monday that Polish businessmen were very enthusiastic in boosting trade including investment in the province which have a very good value in plantations and agriculture.

"Their big interest was apparent from their seriousness in coming along to Medan, N Sumatra, to see for themselves the economic potentials and meet the local businessmen," he said.

He said on the sidelines of a meeting under his chairmanship along with members of the North Sumatra chamber of trade and industry (Kadin).

The Polish delegation of businessmen of different businesses said they are already familiar with various N Sumatra products including coffee, cacao and CPO, although their exports were still conducted by way of the companies of some other countries.

Chairman of N Sumatra Kadin Sumut Irfan Mutyara said the business opportunities with Poland are still very wide, as large trading opportunities between N Sumatra and Poland still went by way of many other countries.

"Direct trade is always more lucrative, however," he said.

Polish honorable consul in Medan Jonner Napitupulu said N Sumatra actually could export more commodities.

"If cooperation has been established, trade could be stepped up, and even take over the markets of other countries," he said.(*)
