Jakarta (ANTARA News) - An earthquake measuring 5.5 on the Richter scale shook Keawkwa, Papua Province, on Wednesday at 11.53 am Western Indonesian Standard Time (WIB).

The quake`s epicenter was located at 5.38 degrees southern latitude, and 136.67 degrees eastern longitude, around 72 km southeast of Keawkwa, and at a depth of 270 km, the national meteorological, climatology and geophysics agency (BMKG) said here on Wednesday.

The temblor did not have potential to trigger a tsunami.(*)
