Pekanbaru, Riau Islands (ANTARA News) - Riau`s Integrated Service Center for Empowerment of Women and Children (P2TP2A) is currently taking care of five human trafficking victims who were on Tuesday (Oct 15) rescued from a brothel in Mandau, Bengkalis.

"The five women- Rn (25), Sr (23), Tk (22), Ys (23) and Gj (25)- hailed from West Java and had been sold off by their families because of financial hardship," said Risdiyati , head of Riau`s Integrated Service Center for Empowerment of Women and Children (P2TP2A), on Wednesday.

She said the human trafficking victims would be returned to Wast Java after the P2TP2A had reeducated them. She said she hoped the local authorities in the region where the women came from would duly protect them after their return home.

Rn, one of the women, said before they stayed at a brothel in Manadau, they had to earn their living as commercial sex workers in Batam.
