Ercis, Turkey (ANTARA News/AFP) - Rescue teams pulled a young man out of the rubble in quake-hit eastern Turkey on Thursday some 100 hours after the disaster struck, the Anatolia news agency reported.

Television footage showed emergency workers carrying him to an ambulance over their shoulders on a stretcher.

News channel Kanal 24 said the man was named Aydin Palak and he is an 18-year-old student, while the Anatolia news agency reported that he is in his late 20s.

Palak was pulled out of a collapsed building in the town of Ercis, which took the full brunt of the devastating, 7.2-magnitude earthquake, Anatolia said.

Palak was brought to the field hospital in Ercis, where doctors said his medical situation was fine, although they decided to send him to another hospital in one of the main cities for further treatment, Kanal 24 said. (*)
