Islamabad (ANTARA News/IRNA-0ANA) - A court in Pakistan on Friday issued arrest warrants for former President Pervez Musharraf and Prime Minister Shaukat Aziz in the murder of a tribal elder, court officials said.

Nawab Akbar Bugti, a Baloch tribal leader, was killed along with his 35 comrades in a military operation in Dera Bugti area of southwestern Balochistan province.

Bugti family had charged Pervez Musharraf, then Prime Minister Shaukat Aziz and several other former officials in the murder case.

A Judicial Magistrate in Quetta, the provincial capital, issued arrest warrant for Pervez Musharraf, who lives in self-exile in Britain.

Investigators had requested the court to issue the arrest warrants as Musharraf had failed to appear in the court despite issuing summons.

The police had earlier obtained the arrest warrant of former home minister of Balochistan Shoaib Ahmed Nosherwani, but he has not yet been arrested.

The Balochistan government had earlier requested the federal government to extradite Musharraf, but the federal government had asked for his arrest warrant which is required by Interpol for issuance of red warrants to nab fugitives.

Another court has also issued his arrest warrant in connection with the assassination of former Prime Minister Benazir Bhutto, who was killed in 2007 in firing and suicide attack.

Musharraf, who is now leading All Pakistan Muslim League party, says he will return to the country in March next year.

There is no extradition treaty between Britain and Pakistan and legal experts say that Musharraf cannot be extradited to Pakistan.
