Jakarta (ANTARA News) - Golkar Party Chairman Aburizal Bakrie has called on all parties to think positively and not to smear or undermine each other.

"There is no need for us to smear each other. We must together build (the country) and not undermine each other," he said in his speech at the commemoration of the party`s 47th anniversary at the Bung Karno Sports Stadium here Saturday.

The event was also attended by President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono who is concurrently the chief patron of the ruling Democrat Party, First Lady Ani Yudhoyono, their son Edhi Baskoro, and thousands of Golkar Party cadres.

With regard to the recent cabinet reshuffle conducted by President Yudhoyono, Aburizal called on all parties to give the reshuffled cabinet a chance to carry out its duties.

He said all parties had to trust the government so that it could carry out its duties until the end of its term in 2014.

"Indonesia must move fast. Other countries and nations are already moving fast. We must not waver in setting our priorities," he said.

As a party that had joined the government coalition, he said, Golkar would continue to support the government of President Yudhoyono and Vice President Boediono until 2014. He said Golkar would be a "real friend."

"The Golkar Party will be a good but firm, critical and loyal friend but it will also be polite and courageous in putting forward facts for the good of all," he said.

Regarding the economy, Aburizal called on all parties to watch closely developments in the economic crisis in Europe. Therefore, he called for an immediate stop to imports and the creation of more job opportunities.

When touching on law enforcement in the country, the Golkar Party chief said a time limit should be set for the existence of the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK).

"The police and the public prosecutor`s offices must be given trust to wage the war on corruption. If they are not given such an opportunity, when will they be able to improve themselves. Therefore, we must set a date for the expiry of KPK`s existence so that we will not remain in a transitional situation indefinitely," he said.

Aburizal said the Golkar Party would support the government of President Yudhoyono and Vice President Boediono until the end of its term in 2014.

He said Golkar would also be happy to give a place for other political parties to be in the front line.

"But if needed by the state Golkar is ready to be in the front line," he said. (*)
