Honolulu (ANTARA News) - Indonesia has presented its energy policy at the 19h Asia Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) summit here.

Indonesian President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono at a press conference at the end of his visit here on Sunday night local time or Monday evening West Indonesia Time said US President Barack Obama had asked him to present his views on energy efficiency and resilience at the summit.

"I presented the policy that we have carried out, are still carrying out and will carry out in the future to make Indonesia being part in the efforts to assure energy security and efficiency.

President Yudhoyono before the APEC leaders had also spoken about the country`s success in reducing the use of fossil fuel energy through kerosene-to-gas conversion.

The program meanwhile has also opened a gas canister industry worth US$2.5 billion that gives jobs to 40,000 workers.

Indonesia has also presented its policy in energy diversification to reduce dependency on fossil fuel and open a new opportunity to find more environmentally friendly sources of energy such as geothermal energy.

In connection with that President Yudhoyono had offered cooperation in the exploration and exploitation of natural resources in the country.

"My hope is let us cooperate in the fields of technology and investment so that we can produce more," he said.

Indonesia, President Yudhoyono said, is committed to continuing to put in order incorrect subsidies that have the potential to pollute the environment by reducing the use of fossil fuel.

He said Indonesia conducts diversification in energy sources in line with the continuing economic development in the country.
