Denpasar, Bali (ANTARA News) - President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono and his entourage arrived in Bali from Honolulu, Hawaii, on Tuesday afternoon to attend the 19th ASEAN Summit in the resort island.

After flying for 12 hours from Honolulu, the special Garuda Indonesia jetliner Airbus A330-300 with the president on board finally arrived at Denpasar`s Ngurah Rai International Airport at 3.40 pm Central Indonesia Standard Time (WITA).

In the company of First Lady Ani Yudhoyono, the president will be in Bali until November 20 to chair the 19th ASEAN Summit, to be incorporated with ASEAN+3 Summit, and the 6th East Asia Summit on November 17-19, 2011.

President Yudhoyono said the ASEAN Summit this time would formulate concrete steps to address the slowdown in economic growth as a result of monetary crisis in Europe that was still the maintopic of discussion in the G-20 and APEC summits.

The president and his entourage left Honolulu on Monday morning where he had attended an Asia Pacific Economic Forum (APEC) summit from November 12-13.

US President Barack Obama is scheduled to attend the East Asia Summit in Bali.

Russian President Dmitry Medvedev meanwhile would not come to the summit due to general elections in his country.

In the APEC CEO Summit forum President Yudhoyono delivered a speech titled "The Asia Pacific Century" that reaffirms the Asia Pacific role as the world`s axis of economic growth in the 21st century.

At the APEC Summit Yudhoyono presented his view on Indonesia`s energy policy that emphasized efficiency and diversification to reduce dependency of fossil fuel.

While in Honolulu President Yudhoyono also met with US top business leaders.

The 19th ASEAN Summit meanwhile is expected to become one of the milestones for peace as it has been prepared to produce a Bali Declaration on ASEAN Community within the Global Community of Nations.(*)O001/HAJM/F001
