Nusa Dua, Bali (ANTARA News) - Japan will financially support development of infrastructure and transportation in ASEAN, the country`s Deputy Cabinet Secretary, Noriyuki Shikata, said here on Friday.

"We will give support in the form of funding for the development of infrastructures in ASEAN. Basically we support every program that will have positive implications for the region," Noriyuki said adding that a railroad project in Vietnam was an example of a Japan-funded project in ASEAN.

Japan recently proposed four new projects that it will support regarding the mission to realize ASEAN Connectivity by 2015 namely the establishment of better basic supply chain, new high speed information technology network and management of funding for ASEAN Connectivity`s projects.

Japan also proposed to fund projects of certification and regulation of the automotive sector as a support towards betterment of ASEAN`s vehicle riding security.(*)
